Saving Lives at Every Event: ProAction’s Unseen Heroes

Updated: Jun 21

When crowds gather for concerts, sports events, or community festivals, safety is often taken for granted. Behind the scenes, however, is a dedicated team ensuring that every participant can enjoy the event without worrying about medical emergencies. ProAction Emergency Services Institute has been a pillar of community health and safety through their comprehensive Event Medical Services. Let’s explore how their efforts have not only safeguarded countless lives but also reinforced the importance of immediate medical response in our community.

Established in 1995, ProAction is El Paso's longest-standing event medical response team, operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Over the years, they have built a reputation for reliability and excellence, serving West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

In 2023, ProAction provided medical support at 1,723 events, ranging from high school sports to major concerts and festivals. This extensive coverage is not just about numbers but about the impact on real lives. Their presence ensures that any medical emergencies, from minor injuries to critical incidents, are managed swiftly and effectively.

One of the most significant contributions of ProAction is their role in large-scale events. For instance, during the Sun Bowl game, high school and college graduations, and various high-profile concerts, ProAction’s medical teams were on standby, ready to respond to any emergencies. Their readiness and expertise mean that whether it’s a sprained ankle or a life-threatening situation, attendees receive immediate care.

Consider the case during a recent large-scale music festival where a participant suffered a severe allergic reaction. Thanks to ProAction’s prompt intervention with emergency medication, the individual’s life was saved. These stories, though often untold, highlight the critical nature of their work.

ProAction doesn’t stop at providing event coverage. They are also committed to training the community. In 2023, they trained 4,889 individuals in various courses, including CPR and First Aid, with 863 Heartsaver FA CPR AED courses, 138 Instructor & Monitoring sessions, and 51 ACLS courses. Additionally, they facilitated 2,231 participants in the “Stop the Bleed” program. This training empowers community members to act confidently during emergencies, potentially saving lives before professional help arrives.

ProAction’s mission to improve lives extends beyond events. They continue to adapt and enhance their services, integrating advanced medical protocols and state-of-the-art equipment. Their commitment to community health and safety is unwavering, as they seek to make a difference at every event and beyond.

ProAction’s Event Medical Services are a cornerstone of safety in El Paso and surrounding areas. Their tireless work ensures that every event is not just enjoyable but also safe. As they continue to serve with excellence, the community can take comfort in knowing that ProAction’s unseen heroes are always ready to step in, providing critical care when it’s needed most.

Support ProAction in their mission to safeguard our community. Your donations help fund essential medical supplies, training programs, and the deployment of medical teams at events. Together, we can ensure that every event in El Paso is a safe and memorable experience for all.
